Alt-Reinickendorf

Named after Alt-Reinickendorf, the street around the old village green of Reinickendorf.

Reinickendorf was founded around 1230; its settlers were probably led by a locator called Reginhard – ‘Reinicke’ in Low German. In 1952 the old main street was renamed Alt-Reinickendorf (‘Old Reinickendorf’). The station opened in 1893 as Reinickendorf (Dorf), ‘village’, to distinguish it from Schönholz-Reinickendorf, and has had its present name since it reopened in 1995.
