Borsigwerke

Tegel

Named after the Borsigwerke, the Borsig engineering works in Tegel.

Borsig was founded in 1837 by August Borsig (1804–1854) and was at times Europe’s largest supplier of steam locomotives. In 1898 the firm opened a new works in Tegel. When the station opened in 1958, one of its entrances was built straight into a factory building next to the works gate, and it was used mainly by people working at the neighbouring firms.
