Named after Büschingstraße, which honours the geographer Anton Friedrich Büsching.
Büsching (1724–1793) was a Protestant theologian and geographer, author of a large ‘Neue Erdbeschreibung’ (New Description of the Earth). From 1766 he headed the Gymnasium zum Grauen Kloster in Berlin. The street was named after him in 1833. In 1911 the Salvation Army opened its first men’s hostel here.
