Eberswalder Straße

Prenzlauer Berg

Named after Eberswalder Straße, which takes its name from the town of Eberswalde.

The station opened in 1913 as Danziger Straße. In 1950 station and street were renamed Dimitroffstraße after the Bulgarian prime minister Georgi Dimitroff. After the Wende, the Senate wanted Danziger Straße back while the district objected, so the East Berlin transport company took a detour and named the station after the nearby Eberswalder Straße. For years, many locals still said ‘Dimitroffstraße’.
