Named after the Gewerbepark Georg Knorr, a business park honouring the engineer Georg Knorr.
Georg Knorr (1859–1911) founded the company Knorr-Bremse; his compressed-air brake was adopted by German railways for goods trains from 1905. The firm later moved into the listed factory on today’s Georg-Knorr-Straße in Marzahn, built in 1940–1942 for the machine-tool maker Hasse & Wrede.
