Named after two streets that meet here: Greifswalder Straße and Ostseestraße.
Greifswalder Straße, named in 1868, recalls the Hanseatic city of Greifswald. Ostseestraße, named in 1913, is named after the Ostsee, the Baltic Sea. Where it meets Prenzlauer Allee and Wisbyer Straße, the former districts of Prenzlauer Berg, Weißensee and Pankow come together; locals call that junction the ‘Spitze’ (‘tip’).
