‘Hegemeister’ was an old title for a forester.
A Hegemeister was an official responsible for protecting forests and game. The path, named in 1921, runs partly through woodland between Rummelsburger Landstraße and Treskowallee. Some of its houses belong to the listed Waldsiedlung Wuhlheide, the ‘Wuhlheide forest estate’.
