Named after the Hohenzollerndamm, which honours the Hohenzollern dynasty.
The road was laid out around 1875 and around 1900 was named in honour of the Hohenzollerns, who were kings of Prussia and German emperors until 1918. The station on the Ringbahn opened in 1910 to serve the new housing along the road.
