Named after the Heinrich-von-Kleist-Park, which honours the writer Heinrich von Kleist.
For more than 200 years the site held Berlin's botanical garden. When the garden moved away, about half of the land was kept as a park, and on 21 November 1911, the 100th anniversary of Kleist's death, it was named after the dramatist and storyteller Heinrich von Kleist (1777–1811).
