Named after Lesser Ury (1861–1931), the Berlin Impressionist painter.
Born in Birnbaum in the Province of Posen, Ury settled for good in Berlin in 1887 and belonged to the Impressionist Berlin Secession. He is known for his café and street scenes. The path (‘Weg’) was named in 1979; it serves the Heinrich-Zille-Siedlung, built from 1976 to 1981 on the site of the former barracks of the 2nd Guards Uhlan Regiment.
