Named after Nordend (‘north end’), an old country-house colony on the edge of Rosenthal.
From 1871 the country-house colony of Nordend grew up south-east of the village of Rosenthal, right on the border with Niederschönhausen. It had 100 inhabitants in 1875 and 997 in 1905. In 1920 it became part of Berlin; it is now a locality of Rosenthal.
