Named after the Volkspark Rehberge, a park laid out on the Rehberge dunes.
The Rehberge were one of several ranges of hills in a former landscape of sand dunes, alongside the Wurzelberge and Fuchsberge. Berlin bought the land in 1926 and turned it into a people's park as a job-creation scheme employing up to 1,200 unemployed people. The station opened in 1956; Goethepark and Otawistraße had also been considered as names.
