Strausberg Nord

Named after Strausberg Nord, the northern part of the town of Strausberg.

In June 1954 the GDR’s Kasernierte Volkspolizei, forerunner of the National People’s Army, moved its headquarters from Berlin-Adlershof to Strausberg. As Strausberg station lay far south of the town, a branch line was built to open up the north of Strausberg, ending here; it opened on 1 January 1955. Today the German army’s Army Command is based nearby.
