Named after the park opened in 1869, about three miles north of Finsbury.
In 1841 the people of Finsbury, on the northern edge of the City of London, petitioned for a park for the poor. The first plans, in 1850, called it Albert Park. Finsbury, recorded as Vinisbir in 1231, probably means the manor of a man called Finn. The station opened in 1861 as Seven Sisters Road (Holloway) and took the park's name in 1869.
