Named after Dicks (1823–1891).
Edmond de la Fontaine, known as Dicks, was a lawyer and judge who wrote the first Luxembourg comedy, 'De Scholdschäin', first staged in 1855, as well as some 60 poems and songs. He was born on today's Knuedler in Luxembourg City and died in Vianden. Where his pen name comes from has long been debated: as a student he signed letters 'votre gros Dix'.
