Named after Rudolf Virchow (1821–1902), German doctor.
Called 'the father of modern pathology' and a founder of social medicine, Virchow was the first to describe and name leukaemia, embolism and thrombosis. As a Berlin politician he worked for modern water and sewer systems. We have not yet found out when or why the street in Bonnevoie was named after him.
