Pierre Werner (1913–2002), Prime Minister.
He led Luxembourg's government from 1959 to 1974 and again from 1979 to 1984. In 1970 he chaired the group that drew up the 'Werner Report', the first plan for a European economic and monetary union. The euro came decades later, which is why he is often called one of its fathers.
