‘Gäertnerei’ means a nursery or market garden.
Reckenthal, a street shared by Strassen and the Rollingergrund quarter, appears around 1820 on the first land register as ‘isolated houses called Reckenthal’. Until the 1930s Rollingergrund was rural: flower and vegetable growers had settled on its fertile land, and at their height the district had 18 farms and nurseries. We have not yet found out which nursery gave the stop its name.
