Lou Hemmer (1904–1987), aviation pioneer.
A Belgian military pilot from 1923 to 1926, he spent his life campaigning for an airport in Luxembourg and was chief instructor of the Aéro-Club for thirty years. On 17 June 1928 he flew before more than 40,000 spectators at the Walferdange air show he had organised on the Steinsel meadows. Streets in Mondercange and at Findel are named after him.
