Kiem

Strassen

'Kiem' means Roman road.

The word goes back to Latin 'caminus', road. The Roman road from Reims to Trier crossed Strassen here. Remains of it were found in 1960, when the Rue du Kiem was widened. Only a few years earlier, in 1953, the uninhabited Kiem path had been turned into a wide asphalt road, opening up new land for building.
