Joseph Hackin (1886–1941), archaeologist.

Born in Boevange-sur-Attert, he took French nationality, became curator of the Musée Guimet in Paris and, in 1934, director of the French archaeological mission in Afghanistan. He joined the Free French with his wife Ria; both died in 1941 when a German U-boat sank their ship. In 2022 the city renamed his street Rue Marie-et-Joseph-Hackin, to honour them both.
