169th Street, one of the numbered north–south streets of Queens.
The station lies where 169th Street crosses Hillside Avenue. Queens adopted a borough-wide street numbering system, first officially recognised in 1915 and then approved area by area into the 1920s; under it, streets, places and lanes run north–south, while avenues, roads and drives run east–west.
