Named after 182nd and 183rd Streets, part of the Bronx’s numbered grid.
Manhattan’s numbered street grid continues north into the Bronx, where it reaches West 263rd Street on the border with Yonkers. Despite the station’s two-street name, there is no longer an open exit to 183rd Street: the stairs there have been sealed since at least 1996, and riders use the four corners of 182nd Street and the Grand Concourse.
