Named after East 105th Street, one of the numbered ‘East’ streets of Brooklyn’s grid.
In the same grid, Rockaway Parkway takes the place of East 97th Street. The MTA still lists the station at Turnbull Avenue, a dirt road that once ran along the tracks; a short stretch survives as a driveway north-east of the station.
