Named after the boulevard Exelmans, which honours Rémy Exelmans (1775–1852).
A cavalry general of Napoleon's armies, he won at Rocquencourt, on 1 July 1815, the last French victory of the Napoleonic Wars, after Napoleon had already abdicated. Made a Marshal of France in 1851, he died the next year after falling from his horse at the pont de Sèvres. The boulevard, cut in 1862–1863 with the Petite Ceinture railway, took his name on 2 March 1867.
