Le Kremlin-Bicêtre

Named after the town of Le Kremlin-Bicêtre.

'Bicêtre' probably comes from Winchester: in 1286 John of Pontoise, bishop of Winchester, built a castle here. 'Kremlin' comes from the sign of an inn, Au Sergent du Kremlin, a souvenir of Napoleon's Russian campaign of 1812. The station opened in 1982.
