Named after the avenue du Général-Michel-Bizot, which honours General Michel Bizot (1795–1855).
Bizot, born in Bitche, was an army engineer and head of the École polytechnique. In the Crimean War he directed the siege works at Sevastopol and was killed there in April 1855, before he learned of his promotion to divisional general. Wikipédia dates the name rue Michel-Bizot to 1862, the City's register to a decree of 1867; it became the rue du Général-Michel-Bizot in 1915 and an avenue in 1916.
