Named after the Porte Dauphine, after Marie Antoinette when she was wife of the dauphin.
The gate stood at the end of a pheasantry of Marie Antoinette, then dauphine, wife of the heir to the throne. The station is subtitled Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny, after the square above it. Its entrance is one of the original Guimard glass canopies. It opened in 1900.
