Named after the rue du Pré-Saint-Gervais, near the gate to the town of Le Pré-Saint-Gervais.
The street, recorded in 1730 as the ‘petite sente des Cerisiers’ (little cherry-tree path), leads to the town of Le Pré-Saint-Gervais. The town's name, first recorded in 1217, comes from the Latin pratum, ‘meadow’, and from Gervasius, a martyr of Milan: the abbey of Saint-Denis gave a relic of the saint to the church there.
