Named after Dornbach, the old village named after its stream.
The Dornbach is one of the three streams that form the Als; it gave its name to the village that grew up along it, first recorded in the 12th century. In 1865 Vienna's first horse tram line ran out to Dornbach. In 1890/1892 the village became part of the 17th district, Hernals.
