Named after Grinzinger Straße, the road to the old wine village of Grinzing.
The street was named on 18 July 1894 after Grinzing, a former village joined to Vienna in 1890/1892; before that it was called Am Nestelbach. Grinzing's vineyards are first mentioned in 1114 as ‘de Grincing’, and in the Middle Ages the village was home mainly to farmers, winegrowers and day labourers.
