Niederhofstraße

Meidling

Named after the Niederhof, an old estate in Untermeidling.

The street was named on 5 July 1894 after the Niederhof; before that it was part of Matzleinsdorfer Straße, the road to Matzleinsdorf. The Niederhof was an estate on the Wien river, owned by Klosterneuburg Abbey in the 15th century. Rebuilt in the early 18th century, it served as a hunting lodge and later as a spa, the Theresienbad.
