Wilhelminenstraße

Ottakring

Named after Princess Wilhelmine Montléart, a philanthropist.

Wilhelmine Montléart-Sachsen-Curland, née Fitzgerald (1820–1895), was born in Dublin and married Prince Moritz Montléart in 1855. As a widow she gave large sums to charity, above all in 1888 for a hospital in Ottakring, named Wilhelminenspital after her (today Klinik Ottakring). The street was named after her in 1872; the name Wilhelminenberg also recalls her.
