Named after the old village of Friedrichsfelde and the River Rhin.
Alt-Friedrichsfelde is part of a long-distance road laid out in 1708 and long called Frankfurter Chaussee. The village, once Rosenfelde, was renamed in 1699 after Elector Friedrich III. In GDR times the street was called Straße der Befreiung, recalling the liberation of 1945; it regained its name in 1992. Rhinstraße recalls the Rhin, a tributary of the Havel.
