Named after Alt-Tempelhof, the old village street of Tempelhof.
Tempelhof takes its name from the Knights Templar, who built a fortified commandery here, probably by around 1200 at the latest. The street runs along the former village green; from the 13th century it was simply the Dorfstraße (village street), and in 1949 it was renamed Alt-Tempelhof (‘Old Tempelhof’).
