Named after a local field called ‘Der Anger’.
An ‘Anger’ is usually grassy common land; here it was part of Rosenthal’s fields. Old maps show ‘Der Anger’ on both sides of the Zingergraben, an area now covered by the Am Anger allotments and houses. The Angerweg first appears in the address book in 1941; the former staff house of the Rosenthal waterworks stands on it.
