‘Wiesenwinkel’ means meadow corner, after the former Winkelwiesen.
The street, named in 1981, recalls the Winkelwiesen, a former wet meadow in the corner west of Kastanienallee and Hauptstraße. The Wiesenwinkel housing estate was built on what had been unused green land, still part of these meadows in the early 1990s.
