Named after Rosenthal’s Hauptstraße (‘main street’) and Friedrich-Engels-Straße.
Hauptstraße was Rosenthal’s village street from the founding of the village and officially became Hauptstraße around 1900; it is still cobbled. Friedrich-Engels-Straße, formerly Reichskanzlerdamm, was renamed in 1951 after Friedrich Engels (1820–1895), the philosopher who developed Marxism together with Karl Marx.
