Named after the old village of Rosenthal; ‘Nord’ means north.
Rosenthal was laid out around 1230 as a village around a green. It was first recorded in 1356 as the parish village of ‘Rosendalle’, and its village church dates from the 13th century. When it joined Berlin in 1920, its land was split between the boroughs of Pankow and Reinickendorf.
