Named after the Lichtenberg tram depot, opened in 1913.
When it opened in 1913, the depot was considered the largest tram depot in the world. The town of Lichtenberg and the manor owner Hermann Roeder gave the land to the Große Berliner Straßenbahn free of charge. The main hall was 195 metres long and 90 metres wide, with 26 tracks.
