Named after Bülowstraße, which honours the Prussian general Friedrich Wilhelm Bülow von Dennewitz.
Bülow (1755–1816) defended Berlin against Napoleon in 1813, at Großbeeren and Dennewitz among other battles, and also fought at Leipzig and Waterloo; in 1814 he became Graf (Count) Bülow von Dennewitz. He also composed church music. The street was named in 1864 as part of the Generalszug, a chain of streets recalling the wars of liberation against Napoleon.
