Named after the Bundestag, the German parliament.
During planning the station was called Platz der Republik, then Reichstag. In 2006 the Bundestag’s Council of Elders asked for the name Bundestag: the parliament is no longer called Reichstag, and the platform lies not in front of the Reichstag building but in front of the Paul-Löbe-Haus, a Bundestag building named after the Reichstag president Paul Löbe. The station opened in 2009.
