Named after the Bürgerpark Marzahn (‘citizens’ park’).
The park, at first called Wohngebietspark (‘housing-estate park’), was opened to the public in 1992 with eight hectares. A children’s open-air pool followed a year later. In 2009 the park was extended along Ludwig-Renn-Straße onto the site of a demolished eleven-storey block of flats.
