Named after Max Herrmann (1865–1942), literary historian and theatre scholar.
Herrmann gave the first theatre-studies lectures at Berlin University in 1900 and co-directed its Institute of Theatre Studies from 1923. In 1933 he was forced into retirement. In September 1942 he and his wife Helene were deported to Theresienstadt, where he died on 17 November 1942. The street was named after him in 1984.
