Named after the old village of Karow, first recorded as Kare.
The village probably arose around 1230; a Fridericus de Kare points to it as early as 1244, and in the 1375 land register of Emperor Charles IV it appears as Kare. The station opened on 15 November 1882 as Carow and has been called Karow since 1901.
