Loeperplatz

Lichtenberg

Named after the Loeper family, landowners important to the village of Lichtenberg.

The square grew out of the medieval village green of Lichtenberg; the listed old parish church stands on it. Around 1890 it was named Wilhelmplatz after the German emperor. In 1914, under mayor Oskar Ziethen, it was renamed Loeperplatz in memory of the Loeper family. The tram runs around it on the two carriageways of Möllendorffstraße.
