Named after Louis-Lewin-Straße, which honours the pharmacologist Louis Lewin.
Louis Lewin (1850–1929) was a physician and toxicologist, regarded as the founder of industrial toxicology and of modern research on drugs. The street and the station first bore the name of Paul Verner, a member of the SED Politburo; after reunification both were renamed after Lewin. The station was originally to be called Hönow-West.
