Masurenstraße

Pankow

Named after Masuria, a region of former East Prussia, now in Poland.

The name was given in 1906 at the wish of Pankow’s mayor of the time, Kuhr, who came from East Prussia. Masuria’s own name came into use in the 18th century, after Protestant settlers from Masovia, further south, had moved there. Only the north side of the short street is built up; the south side borders Heinz-Knobloch-Platz.
