Named after Mühlenbeck and its settlement Mönchmühle, the ‘monks’ mill’.
In 1224 Cistercian monks of Lehnin Abbey ran a farm on the land of today’s Mönchmühle and, around 1230, built a water-driven grain mill, the Mönchmühle, after which the settlement is named. Neighbouring Mühlenbeck was first recorded in 1375 as ‘Molenbeke’; its name is thought to be linked to the processing of the mill’s flour. The halt opened in 1984.
