Named after the Museumsinsel (Museum Island), in the north of the Spree island.
The Museumsinsel is an ensemble of five museums built between 1830 and 1930 on behalf of the Prussian kings: the Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie, Bode-Museum and Pergamonmuseum. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. Since this station opened in 2021, the island can be reached directly by U-Bahn.
